Luke 6:38...

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

I read this tonight, and it just sounded so poetic. Makes you want to go out and just give, doesn't it?

Heartlight.org had this quote in their commentary: "Our blessings will be based upon our willingness to bless others."

Something to think about.

Just a test

Testing, testing? Does this thing still work?

Life Update

Wow! I have not been good at posting this year. Sorry to all of my adoring fans out there (cough, Brittany at Lib U.)

Life Update #1: We've moved again! Yippee skippee, June came around once again, and, as is the custom when you are a female in your early twenties, it was time to move to a new apartment. For the first time in my life I live outside of El Cajon (I figure Jamul summers don't count). Jenna and I have taken up residence with Brittney and her two roommates over in La Mesa, the one town in East County that I find myself constantly lost in. Darn non-grid system. It's... interesting so far. We haven't actually even lived with Brittney yet, since she is still in India, so we're not sure yet what the dynamic will be. Right now, we're just kind of winging it.

Life Update #2: We started a new company at work. This one is an AWESOME IDEA, though. My boss decided for his third book we should try our own hand at publishing. So he went and started his own publishing company. This is amazing mainly because my career goal is to work for a publishing company in between now and getting married and cranking out some cute kids. I've gotten to teach myself how to use Adobe InDesign to typeset the new book, gotten to edit it, I'm working with Justin on cover design and graphics, and we've just started talking logistics with the printer. It's a-mazing. Seriously, kids, only God works out amazing stuff like that.

Life Update #3: Since GRADUATION TWO MONTHS AGO, I've found myself with much more free time to do whatever I want, read, watch TV, scrapbook, whatev. But of course, being me, I have to do something at least slightly productive when I'm using my free time, so I decided to actually schedule out for myself time for writing. I figure this summer is as good a time as any to finally get that great American novel done. You can find me Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the back corners of the Rancho San Diego and El Cajon libraries, typing away.

Sadly, those are pretty much the only updates worhty of being written about. There are lots of little things going on, too, but nothing that would lend itself to more than a sentence or two.

... All right, back to work for me. :)

Ode to Box 246

Well, so far the worst thing about graduating this week was that today I had to part with my mailbox key.

I wasn't even ready to do it. They just demanded it right there.

I couldn't even get in the "last-time-checking-my-box-for-fun-things" picture.

Life will forever be different.

What a melancholy week.

I give up

All right, all right. I've decided to embrace being sick. Among other things this includes putting off a paper for lit class due tomorrow and breaking out the chicken noodle soup. If only I had some 7-up it would be a real party.

If anyone needs me, I'll be on the couch at apartment B22, watching reruns of Veronica Mars, season one, disc three specifically.

Attention: NEW POST

Ha ha ha. Brittany Keener keeps telling me I need to post something new. So here's to Brittany, who's sitting across from me at the B22 kitchen table on her spring break right now. She has no idea I'm typing this, or that it's about her. I'm sneaky like that.

Hope you're having fun in Virginia, Brittany. Hope it snows for you and you can ditch more classes than just the first one that gets delayed!

Oh Happy Day

It's January 23rd, kids, and you all know what that means.... That's right, the new episodes of Veronica Mars start right now. Peace out, peeps. I won't be answering calls for the next hour.

Scrapbookers Anonymous

Scrapbook fever has broken out over at B22. Sonia, Jenna, and I are joined by neighbor Sara and camp friend Liz in our artistic endeavors and weekly trips to the Scrapbook Attic. Hours are spent with paper, die cuts, and stickers spread out over the living room floor, as chick flicks play continuously in the background. Bits of scrap paper are embedded into the carpet. Boys, upon hearing the "come on in" greeting, look on in shock (and perhaps a little fear) as they stand gawking at the doorway.

It's glorious.

Christmas day, San Diego, 2006

Yes, folks, it is indeed 78 degrees outside, but it feels more like 80. As Britt and I headed out for our delectable Christmas lunch, in flip flops and tank tops, I was seriously wishing I'd worn shorts today.

I love San Diego.

Life Update

Yeah, so I'm pretty sure the guys upstairs are rearranging their furniture. Or doing switcheroo. Interesting, that I can HEAR EVERY MOVE THEY MAKE when normally I never hear anything from up there.

Maybe they're walking around on stilts. And they keep falling off and hitting the floor with a BANG!

That's what it sounds like.

Anyway, in recent news I finished out the semester, not sure how it ended yet. I think I missed an assignment in Psychology, and that may come back to haunt me. :(

But the most exciting thing is that with all this free time I've caught up to the current Veronica Mars episode. I LOVE THIS SHOW! If you haven't watched it, start at the beginning... it's better that way.

Why School Sometimes Rocks...

Because sometimes during finals week, you find yourself in one of Mrs. Szuch's finals. And sometimes during Mrs. Szuch's final you find yourself macking down on pizza and M&M's while you fill out 100 multiple choice questions. Totally takes the sting out of taking a final.

It's here....

Well, winter has finally hit in good ol' San Diego. I was beginning to wonder if winter was just going to skip right over us this week. But leave it to So Cal weather to be sunny and in the 90s last week and sunny and freezing this week.

Only good thing about cold weather: you can wear scarves, mittens, and cute jackets.

That's it. That's the only good thing.

204 more days until summer!

I'm so sure...

The first time I don't burn the cookies, and Mandy isn't here to see it. How is she supposed to believe me that I don't always burn the cookies, when she isn't here during the rare chances that they come out right.

Oh, yes, I could take a picture.

See, Mandy? They don't always come out burnt.

But thanks for always eating them even when they do. :)

This broadcast of the Jordan Cooking Channel has been brought to you by Nestle Tollhouse and the letter C.

Hot Carrots

Every once in awhile when my boss has a business lunch, he'll go to Tio Leo's, and it has become recent tradition to bring back hot carrots for me and Heather to munch on as we work. They are soooooo hot, but sooooo good. It's like an addiction. We just keep grabbing for more carrots as we down coke or some other carbonated beverage to take away the sting.

Today he brought us each back a whole quart of them. A whole quart, each. My mouth is on fire and I haven't even gotten through the first layer yet. I think I was developing a cold, but I'm pretty sure the four carrots I've eaten so far have successfully knocked it out of me.

I think we'll be snacking on hot carrots for a long time over here.

Update on the New Shoes

Well, we're off to a rocky start. By rocky I mean an agonizing forty-five minutes of shoe rubbing the tops of my toes raw until I was bleeding through my sock. I couldn't hide the limp as I walked to my car afterward.

You have bested me tonight, new shoes. But tomorrow you will learn submission....

New Shoes

I hate wearing shoes.

I blame my aversion of standard footwear on camp, where the rules state that closed toes shoes must be worn at all times with the exception of your bed, the showers, or the pool. Fortunately, as lifeguard for three summers, I was able to wear my beloved flip flops for half the day, only slipping on those old tennies when dinner came around and for subsequent meetings after.

All of this is to say I don't buy shoes often. I'm not a girly girl who has a million pairs of shoes. Most of my "shoes" are actually sandals in some form. In fact, the only shoes I ever wear serve a specific purpose, i.e., my running shoes and my soccer cleats or the shoes I wear when it's raining (I have this thing about getting my feet wet....). I just don't see the point in dirtying a pair of socks when I much prefer my flip flops. So when I go out and buy shoes it's not just for the heck of it. It is because I absolutely, desperately, can't get around it anymore, must buy another pair because the ones I am currently wearing could fall of my feet at any moment. Because that's pretty much the point my shoes get before I'll give in and spend money on a new pair:

I give you Exhibit A:

As you can see I had far exceeded that point where I needed new shoes.

I think I could have gone a couple more months on these bad boys except that indoor soccer at school is starting up tonight, and I must admit the duct tape makes me a bit self-conscious. It's fine for running around the block, jogging to my pink ipod. It's completely different to actually wear them out in public.

So I bought me some new shoes and I even wore them to class tonight to break them in a bit before the inaugural game. Good luck, new tennies. I hope we have many good times together, and hopefully you will not end up with the misfortune of your predecessors, whose current home is the kitchen trash. Until tomorrow, when their new home is the city dump....

First up... Snow White

This one was way different than I remembered it. Snow White is kind of ditzy most of the time, but the prince still loved her... that's encouraging for the rest of us ditzy girls!

"I'm wishing for the one I love

To find me today

I'm hoping

And I'm dreaming of

The nice things he'll say"

Yup, good song.
